Little Trotters is a children's shoe shop based at home on the farm at Ploughlands, near Maxton, in the Scottish Borders. Book a private 30 minute appointment and come along to the farm, with ample parking, and the chance to see the odd chicken, horse or tractor while you are here!

We have plenty of stock, a comfy sofa, toys and a truly stress free atmosphere to get your babies and children's feet measured.

Little Trotters can also come to you, as a mobile children's shoe fitting service, providing a stress free experience for all the family. Why not get a group of friends and kids together and let me come to you? I can also visit toddler groups, playgroups or other settings so please do get in touch.

Babies First Shoes Appointment

Buying babies first shoes is such an important milestone, why not come along to Little Trotters for a stress free family experience!

We have plenty of room in the shop to accommodate all the family, and I have lot's of experience fitting tiny feet!

At Little Trotters we have a large stock of shoes suitable for babies firsts, including soft walkers and boots - and through a private appointment you can take your time, let baby explore and get comfortable and ensure it's a lovely family memory!

About Me!

My name is Tora and I know how frustrating shoe shopping with your children can be... I have 3 of my own (still in primary school) who all have their own ideas of what they want!

I realised there were not many shops in the Borders where you could get a qualified shoe fitting service and quality shoes. Paired with the hassle factor, I came up with Little Trotters.

Little Trotters, based on the farm at Ploughlands, near Maxton, offers a private shoe fitting and shopping experience.

The ability to book an appointment means all my attention is on you, and while the kids amuse themselves with the toys, puzzles and even animals outside, I can get them expertly fitted and you can browse my large range of shoes.

Take away all the stress of parking, getting a ticket and waiting in line - and I can devote my time and attention solely to you.

Fitting Service

Having gained my shoe fitting qualification with The Society of Shoe Fitters I am able to provide an expert fitting service.

A gauge is merely a guide... I will always measure as a starting point and fit the shoe taking into account differences between brands and individual foot shapes.

Recommended growth checks at:

4-6 weeks for 0-3yr olds
6-8 weeks for 3-4yr olds
10-12 weeks thereafter

If the current shoes are still fitting well I will advise on when to re-measure. No obligation to buy if shoes are not needed.

Children's Shoe Brands

The brands I currently stock are Ricosta, Superfit, Bobux, Froddo and Shoesme.

First walkers to soft durable school shoes, warm winter boots to Gore-Tex trainers. All in soft leathers and durable fabrics.

I place 3 orders a year, Spring/Summer, Autumn/Winter and Back to School. Lots of wonderful colours and designs to choose from. Just ask for any designs/colours you would like me to look into stocking.
